This is a mix I made for my sister, who turned blank-blank last week. I made it before the REVENGE mix, actually, and should have blabbed about it before REVENGE, but on Friday I was high on REVENGE for my own goofy reasons… And it felt great, actually! Hadn’t listened to Fear for ages. Highly recommended. Better than a puppy. Forget all about that “happiness and warm gun” stuff. REVENGE! Anyway, this is a “new” mix, and it’s very nice. It’s called
She’s On Drums
A few words about 8Tracks. It’s great. It has it all over last.fm, it can handle multiple tasks while maintaining a high quality stream, unlike last.fm, which craps out if you breathe on it and sounds, well, like crap under the best of circumstances. And as a music sharing platform (and slash) social network, 8Tracks kicks ass. Most of the mixers maintain their own blogs (lots of tumblr and flickr accounts), and all too often I’ve been blown away by a single track by a previously undiscovered band, and with a little exploration, boom. Lotta cool shit out there. Lotta crap, too, but what do you expect? It’s not like I’m spilling the beans on Santa Clause or some- thing.
The only downside to 8Tracks is the purchase option: it’s easy, yes, but if you want to buy a track you decide you can’t live without, you are limited to buying it from, um, amazon. Ah well… Jesus, nothing’s perfect. And you don’t have to buy anything. And you can listen any mix as many times as you want. Check it out.
OK, lovefest over. Tomorrow night… we get serious.
